Women’s History Month

This Women’s History Month, we are recognizing the contributions of the female pioneers in the forestry and natural resource field through a poster series. The purpose of these posters is to commemorate the courage and commitment it took for women to enter and be successful in this male dominated field.

Women are, still to this day, underrepresented and disadvantaged due to institutional and systematic biases that prevent them from being treated with respect, receiving equal pay, and being taken seriously in the natural resource field. Even so, there have been and still are, strong intelligent female scientists that have navigated the scientific world successfully, and inspire young women to pursue academic careers.

We are celebrating their journey and their strength.

We hope these posters help facilitate thought and dialogue about how gender plays a role in our lives and the academic world. We hope you think about how we as a community can help create a desirable and welcoming community for future female foresters!
